Riis Academy – PS 171 offers comprehensive after-school programming for students in grades K-5th grade, under six core program areas.
Our K-2 grade students participate in science experiments and work on math activities, while 3rd-5th grade students participate in coding activities.
We use The Winsor Learning curriculum to teach all grades new spelling words and improve their writing skills.
This curriculum is used to educate students on the importance of being a good role model to their classmates in school. They learn how to be honest, respectful, and responsible.
Participants are able to express their emotions and creativity through art projects, some related to the theme of the month
We use the SPARKS curriculum to improve the health of children through recreational games. In health and wellness, students learn the importance of healthy living, eating and fitness habits.
Students explore new activities of their interest including: sports club, movie club, arts and craft club and cooking club.
