Riis Settlement’s Queensbridge Community Center serves youth and young adults through robust after-school programs.

Riis Settlement’s Queensbridge Community Center serves youth and young adults ages 5-24 through robust elementary, middle school, and teen after-school programs. Queensbridge is also a Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) site, working with NYC’s Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) to offer career exploration opportunities and paid work experiences for youth ages 14-24 during the summer months.

After-school program offerings include:

  • Homework help and tutoring
  • STEM activities
  • Art activities
  • Recreation and sports
  • Martial arts classes
  • Cooking classes
  • An intergenerational program with participants from Riis’ Older Adult Center
  • Basketball clinics
  • Safety and crime awareness workshops
  • College access and career awareness programs
  • Film and media workshops for teens

Community members can register online through DYCD by visiting: https://discoverdycd.dycdconnect.nyc/program-public and typing Riis Academy-Queensbridge in the search bar.

We also accommodate registration on-site at 10-25 41st Street, Long Island City, NY 11101.
