Riis Settlement’s Queensbridge Community Center serves youth and young adults ages 5-24 through robust elementary, middle school, and teen after-school programs. Queensbridge is also a Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) site, working with NYC’s Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) to offer career exploration opportunities and paid work experiences for youth ages 14-24 during the summer months.
After-school program offerings include:
- Homework help and tutoring
- STEM activities
- Art activities
- Recreation and sports
- Martial arts classes
- Cooking classes
- An intergenerational program with participants from Riis’ Older Adult Center
- Basketball clinics
- Safety and crime awareness workshops
- College access and career awareness programs
- Film and media workshops for teens
