NSTAT Mural Project

Our NSTAT team recently completed another beautification project in Queensbridge Houses as part of our involvement in the Love Where You Live (LWYL) campaign, initiated by the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Safety (ONS) and facilitated by Urban Upbound. LWYL has played a crucial role in supporting organizations like Riis to actively involve local artists in leading customized cultural projects with resident stewards, with the aim of addressing anti-violence and facilitating healing efforts.

Our NSTAT team collaborated with William Jamison, a local artist and Queensbridge resident of over thirty years, to conceptualize and implement a series of community murals. The resulting four murals depict the values of community, peace, love, and prosperity, showcasing scenes of smiling faces and collaborative endeavors. Each mural emphasizes the celebration of cultural and intergenerational diversity, as well as community unity. These vivid murals are an enriching addition to Queensbridge, serving as a continual reminder of the power embedded in a caring community.
