Riis Academy Students Extend Warm Wishes to the Newtown, CT School Community

The Riis Settlement family has been deeply affected by the Newtown school shooting that has devastated our nation.  In particular, our after-school youth participants have been reflecting on Friday’s tragedy with sincere concerns.  After having conversations about the tragedy with staff and fellow participants, the students at Riis Academy- Queensbridge Elementary and Middle School will be decorating holiday stockings and mailing them to Newtown, Connecticut this Friday, December 21, 2012.

As we come together during this difficult time, we hope to encourage our youth to stay positive and extend their warm wishes for the holidays to those who need it the most.
