This May, Riis’ Executive Director, Director of Youth Services, and Director of Development and Communications traveled to Lille, France for the International Federation of Settlements and Neighborhood Centers (IFS) International Conference. As a settlement house, Riis is a member of IFS, a coalition of multi-purpose, community-based organizations from all parts of the globe. The theme of this year’s conference was Democracy and Social Justice, and the weekend featured various workshops, discussions, and presentations where the 100+ attendees were able to explore democracy and social justice strategies worldwide. Our executive director also attended the IFS Board Meeting and took part in a panel about racial equity strategies at New York settlement organizations.
