Honoring the Legacy of Wide Rainbow Founder, Ashley Gail Galetto

For more than a decade, Riis Settlement has partnered with Wide Rainbow, a nonprofit arts organization, to bring creativity, self-expression, and a love of the arts to our youth. Through hands-on workshops and cultural outings, Wide Rainbow has connected our young people with incredible artists and introduced them to the wider arts world. From bookmaking workshops to synth music sessions, from the Guggenheim and Whitney Museums to gallery tours at Jack Shainman and The Kitchen, these experiences have left a lasting mark on our participants.

This work was made possible by the vision and dedication of Ashley Gail Galetto (née Harris), founder of Wide Rainbow. We were deeply saddened to learn of Ashley’s recent passing. Ashley was authentic, present, and deeply caring. She saw beyond struggles, connected with each participant, and encouraged them to embrace the artist within themselves.

Her impact will live on through every young person she inspired. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Wide Rainbow team, her family, and all who loved her. At Riis, we will always treasure the moments created through our partnership with Ashley and Wide Rainbow, and we honor her legacy by continuing to empower the next generation of artists.
