On September 22, members of the Queensbridge Photo Collective, a group of 15 participants from our Older Adult Center, presented their original quilt dedicated to the Riis Settlement Community Center.
Working with Five Corners teaching artists, the members created the quilt over the course of a 10-week class in fall 2025. Each Collective member contributed between one and five squares, inspired by the support and sense of community they find at the Center.
The squares feature collaged images, patterned fabric, and original drawings highlighting family, friends, pets, and cherished mementos. They have also been documented in a print book that includes descriptions of each artist’s intent and personal connection to their design.
“Through photography and storytelling, they use their creative skills to document, celebrate, and empower the Queensbridge community.”
Congratulations to all our participants on this beautiful accomplishment! We’re honored to celebrate their creativity, their stories, and their connection to the community through this quilt.
