Our Older Adult Services (OAS) team had two powerful days of advocacy, beginning with our NNORC team joining the Human Services Council in Albany to urge state legislators to include a 2.7% Targeted Inflationary Increase for all human services programs in the one-house budget and to pass Human Services Wage Board legislation.
Thank you to our NNORC team for showing up — not just for Riis Settlement, but for all human services workers.
OAS participants also proudly joined LiveOn NY’s 3rd Annual Queens Aging Advocacy Day at Queens Borough Hall. The event brought together hundreds of older adults and community leaders from across Queens, united in a shared mission to ensure that older New Yorkers receive the resources and respect they deserve.
Throughout the day, attendees advocated for fair funding and stronger support systems that enable older adults to age in place safely and with dignity. Our participants demonstrated the power of collective advocacy and the importance of amplifying the voices of aging communities.
We’re grateful to our OAS participants and staff for helping ensure that older adults in our communities continue to receive the services and support they deserve.
