Riis Settlement is proud to recognize several dedicated volunteers who received certificates of recognition through The City of New York’s Mayoral Service Recognition Program in May, honoring their commitment of 50 or more hours of service to our community. Among the volunteers recognized this year were Older Adult Center volunteers Dorothy Grant and Shirley Mitchell, who lead a jewelry-making class, and our Immigrant Services volunteer, Maria Rojas, who assists with our clothing distributions.
Their dedication to serving others reflects the spirit of service that defines Riis Settlement. This recognition highlights the vital role volunteers play in strengthening our programs and enriching the lives of those we serve.
We congratulate Dorothy, Shirley, and Maria on this well-deserved recognition, and we thank them for their continued commitment to our community.
