Last week, our Older Adult Services team hosted a moving celebration in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Staff and participants gathered at our Older Adult Center (OAC) to reflect on Dr. King’s powerful words from speeches and letters written throughout the civil rights movement. Several guests shared original poetry inspired by the fight for social justice, including our very own OAC Director, Frank McCrea.
We were delighted to welcome the MoJazz Dance for an emotional performance titled Fires in Our Souls. Following the performance, everyone was invited to join the dance—a joyful way to release tension and promote wellness through movement.
Participants also shared personal memories from Dr. King’s era and the events that shaped their lives. These reflections highlighted the lasting impact of his legacy. Guests enjoyed lunch and left feeling inspired, connected, and uplifted.
Thank you to all who participated and contributed to making this day so meaningful!
