Good Morning and Bon Appétit!

We were thrilled on Tuesday morning when our very own Riis Academy‑Queensbridge participant, Johan, made an appearance on Good Morning America as a junior chef! Joining TV host Carla Hall and other young chefs from The Sylvia Center, Johan helped introduce Carla Hall’s new book, Carla and the Tin Can Cake Party, by demonstrating how to create tin-can cakes.

Johan’s appearance is a wonderful example of the enriching opportunities our partnerships provide. The Sylvia Center leads weekly cooking classes in our Queensbridge after-school program, where students learn about healthy food, nutrition, and safe cooking practices while building confidence in the kitchen. We’re grateful for their partnership, so proud of Johan, and thrilled to offer experiences like these!
