Riis Youth Wins NYPA Scholarship!

We’re thrilled to share that one of this year’s winners of the NY Power Authority’s Future Energy Leaders Scholarship is our very own Trey Lamar! This $10,000 scholarship is awarded to high school seniors across New York State who plan to pursue energy-related undergraduate studies. Fewer than ten students were selected statewide—and Trey stood out among them.

An outstanding student with a passion for electrical engineering, Trey’s essay demonstrated progressive thinking and a strong belief in the urgent need for green and renewable energy—not as an option, but a necessity.

Trey will be attending SUNY New Paltz this fall, and his mother, Denise Rumola (pictured), Riis Academy Program Director at Ravenswood Cornerstone, could not be prouder. We are all excited to see what’s next for Trey and wish him the utmost success in his academic journey.

Trey is now the third Riis youth to receive this prestigious scholarship in the past four years—a testament to the talent and determination of our young leaders. We couldn’t be more proud!
