Consulate Visit Kicks Off Exchange

Last month, a group of Riis Academy youth visited the Danish Consulate in New York as part of their preparation for our Danish Exchange program. The group is now in Denmark, actively engaging in a once-in-a-lifetime cultural exchange experience.

During their visit to the Denmark House, home of the Danish Consulate, they met with Consul General Helle Meinertz and attended a presentation covering Danish culture, current events, and the legacy of our Danish-born namesake, Jacob A. Riis. They also learned about the concept of hygge and what to expect from the local weather during their stay.

We’re grateful to the Danish Consulate for taking the time to welcome and help prepare our youth for their travels. This exchange program offers young people the chance to build global awareness, cultural understanding, and independence. We look forward to hearing about their experiences when they return home!
