Culture Day 2025: Celebrating Indigenous Tribes at Riis Academy

On August 13, Riis Academy concluded another summer camp season with our annual Culture Day, a tradition that celebrates learning, creativity, and cultural appreciation. Participants showcased their research on Indigenous tribes through colorful crafts, thoughtful performances, and engaging displays presented to a panel of judges. Their passion and dedication shone through, reflecting both serious research and genuine respect for the cultures they studied.

Congratulations to this year’s award winners:

  • First Place: Riis Academy – PS 166: Sioux Nation
  • Second Place: Riis Academy – Ravenswood Cornerstone: Iroquois Confederacy
  • Third Place: Riis Academy – Queensbridge: Navajo Nation


We are proud of all our summer camp participants and grateful to the Riis staff who helped make this year’s Culture Day a success, a tradition that continues to showcase Riis Academy’s commitment to fostering curiosity, creativity, and respect for diverse cultures.
