Celebrating Lights On Afterschool

Our Riis Academy sites celebrated Lights On Afterschool yesterday to recognize the importance of after-school programs and their impact on our community!

At Queensbridge, students showcased their arts and crafts projects, went on scavenger hunts, and competed in games such as volleyball, basketball, and Jenga alongside their parents. PS 111 students presented their science and art projects, performed dances and chants, completed obstacle courses, and displayed city landscape-themed projects. Ravenswood welcomed parents and guests to a meaningful photo display, followed by a sit-and-paint activity, and wrapped up the celebration with a lively conga line. At PS 166, students shared arts and crafts activities with their parents and concluded with a neighborhood parade.

We’re proud to celebrate the incredible impact of after-school programs on our children and families. Riis Pride was on full display during Lights On Afterschool Day, and we can’t wait to see our youth continue to learn and grow throughout the year.
