On Tuesday, August 26, we proudly hosted our annual School Supply Giveaway at the Queensbridge Community Center, where hundreds of community members gathered for a day filled with resources, connection, and fun—including a lively photo booth courtesy of SV Forever Memories.
In addition to picking up supplies, families learned more about Riis programs and connected with partner organizations. This year, we were joined by Emerald Isle Immigration Center, Not Another Child, and Sisters in Purple, who offered resources on immigration, community violence prevention, and domestic violence support.
We were also honored to welcome representatives from the offices of NYS Senator Kristen Gonzalez, NYS Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani, and NYC Councilmember Julie Won, who distributed backpacks and met with families at their tables.
Everyone left with school supplies, snacks, ice cream sundaes—and big smiles. We wish all of our youth the very best as they begin a new academic year!
