Adult ESOL Students Donate for Haiti Relief Efforts

Shortly after the tragic earthquake struck Haiti on January 12, 2010, students and staff of Riis Settlement’s Immigrant Services program mobilized to help from afar. Among the 224 adult immigrants currently enrolled in our English classes for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), we raised a total of $890 to fund the relief efforts organized by Partners in Health. PIH is one of the largest non-governmental health care providers in Haiti and has been working on the ground in the country for over 20 years. Pictured here, a group of ESOL students hold the check sent to PIH on January 29th.
